If you're wondering why this image might be stylistically familiar, it's because I purposefully mimicked the epic illustration style of Satoshi Urushihara. World renowned manga/anime/illustration artist. For many years I've been enthralled with the work this one man has done, and since watching Legend of Lemnear, Record of Lodoss War, Plastic Little and so on back in my younger days, I've been wanting to replicate his style for fun. It's such a unique and highly recognizable, and there are bits and pieces in my art still today. One thing in specific that I found charming of his, was his splash-pages/covers and coloring style. You could say I'm a fan of the "uber shiney cel-shade" because of him, and him alone. His adult and non-adult work still fascinate me. And so this art piece is an homage to everything I love about his work. So please don't fly off the handle and start yelling "art thief" as a result. Thanks. Anyways, the original image is well beyond the scope of 4000x4000 pixels. Yarrow and Yewon each being their own separate image. Tools: SAI, PS7, Intuos4, Coffee Time: 20+ hours Music: Aly & Fila (Mark Eteson Remix Edit) - Thebes Genocyber - Fairy Dreaming Yewon and art is © Yarrow is © Do not use, copy, or distribute, 2009. |

And Yarrow looks so badass and princely. I like his lil'... jewel encrusted corset thinger. XD That overall outfit is quite cool and actually rather sexy. And yet he still has some form of steal toed shoe... all the better to kick shins with. Both of their expressions are great and so... -them-.
Great background as well... the colors really make them pop out. And the composition of Yarrow overlapping Yewon works really nicely as well. Everything is so crisp and smooth.
PS- THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING YARROW and just drawing this in general. This is awesome, as are you. GREAT JEORB.

You're probably tired of hearing this by now, but, is there any chance we can stop so I can find some pants?
I recall loving those old styles just because it's where anime/manga started for me, back when big hair and pointless shine was a little more in vogue
I digress though. Love the whole intergalactic adventure look to this! Certainly a neat change of pace with your coloring

Oh GAWD! If I knew this was gonna happen, I would've
taken rope escape lessons more seriously!!
I think for sure, this has to be one the damn shiniest things I've done lately, and probably will be for a long time. That much shine should be outlawed! Or at least done in moderation. One things for sure, 4-5 tone cel-shading is a dead art and I can SEE WHY...ITS KINDA HARD!
Anyways, you are entirely welcome, and I'd been eager to try and translate Yarrow into this style for a while...and mostly because it was amusing. And required sexy outfits. This was a blast, thank you for repeatedly letting me borrow Yarrow (haha rhymed) in my artistic experimentation!

I never comment to you, from the fear of it not being read and for being shy, but I can't hold back any longer >w<
You're one of my main inspirations! your artwork is so... so incredible, meaningful, magical too. I feel like when I look at it, I'm in sync with it, you know? Like, you really know whats good, and you hit it spot on, and I feel it (I sound so retarded, don't I?)
I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you. Thank you for inspiring me, and creating artwork that's so incredibly appealing. Take care (Ima go look for commission info from you now C: )
